St John’s RC has once again been awarded a Green Flag Award by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful in recognition of our Eco-Schools journey. To earn the Green Flag we have been following the seven elements of the programme for the past two years to ensure that the whole school and wider community has been involved.
We have focused our work on litter, global citizenship and school grounds over the past two years. Pupils have also linked the Eco-schools Scotland action plan to UN Sustainable Development Goals which are linked to the three goals.
Scotland recently celebrated the 2000th school to achieve a Green flag award, so we are joining a growing number, not just in Scotland but across the world.
Derek Robertson, Chief Executive of Keep Scotland Beautiful, said “I would like to congratulate all the pupils and staff at St John’s RC Primary for achieving the Green Flag Award.”
“Eco-schools supports schools in their work with Learning for Sustainability and Curriculum for Excellence and helps ensure our children and young people are equipped with skills that they need for the future. I hope that everyone had fun while learning about our environement and why it is important for our health, our business and our wildlife.”
