Primary 1 Learning Grid 8th June

Hello everybody! We hope you are all keeping well and staying safe. I know everybody is very glad to be able to meet up with friends out of doors – it’s been lovely reading about your catch-ups on Learning Journals!

You have done such excellent learning about toys, now we are beginning something a little bit different. We are starting to think about energy and forces. We hope you enjoy exploring the different learning ideas we have shared for you in this week’s grid (shared below and downloadable from Learning Journals).

Look out for Mrs Williams story too! She is reading one of our Primary 1 favourites this week.

As always, please do as much as you can manage. Stay safe and well, summer is almost here!

Lots of love,

Mrs Williams, Mrs Robinson and Mrs Mackay

Review your Phonics by watching telly, on your bottom!!?

by Mrs Mitchell

Remember, you can take a break from Joe Wicks and revise all your alphabet sounds, long vowel sounds, have a go at reading, word building, and simple sentence writing – just by watching Mrs Mitchell’s YouTube videos!

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgRpHDTNER6IqKg715bajew?view_as=subscriber

Easy peasy! (but the sounds get harder, from ‘Mrs Mitchell’s Literacy Time – Set 1 sounds’ all the way through to ‘Set 3 sounds’)

Suitable for all pupils who come up to me in Support for Learning, or any pupils in P1-4 who are still building confidence with reading/spelling.

Art Activities 1/6-7/6

This week’s artwork is…

Karla Black

Contact Isn’t Lost

Art is so much more than just looking at paintings. Art can be made out of anything! And, with some art, you don’t just see it – you use your other senses too!

Karla Black is a Scottish artist who creates abstract sculptures that take over huge gallery spaces and stimulate all of our senses. She uses things like baby powder, soap, toothpaste, chalk, make-up, cotton wool and mud as the materials in her art-making, as well as traditional art materials like plaster, pigment and paint. As you walk into a room that has her artwork in it, you can often smell it before you see it!

For some artists the process of making is just as important (or more important!) than the final artwork created. This week we’re playing with this idea by finding, making and engaging our senses with lots of different materials.

I look forward to seeing your work!

Primary 1 Learning Grid 1st June

Hello boys and girls! We can’t believe that it is the 1st of June already! The summer holidays are almost here and you have all been doing so much learning at home.

We hope you are all enjoying our Toys topic. It has been lovely seeing all your photos on Learning Journals – your favourite toys, toys you have made and stories you have read about toys! We hope you enjoy doing some of the new activities from this week’s grid. As usual, the grid will be available as an attachment on Learning Journals.

As always, please don’t feel that everything on the grid needs to be completed. Have a lovely week and try to enjoy the wonderful sunny weather we are having!

Love Mrs Mackay, Mrs Robinson and Mrs Williams xxx
