Playdough Recipe!

Have fun making your own playdough! You could use it to practise making your sounds, making numbers, making objects to count or share… it’s up to you.

There are lots of ideas for playdough and playdough mats on Twinkl which are free to download at the moment. (These are good tucked safely inside a plastic wallet so that the playdough can be used on top without damaging the paper).

Primary 1 Learning 30th March

Good morning everybody, we hope you have all had a safe and enjoyable week at home!

In literacy, the sounds for this week are ou and ow. You could use the word lists in your packs to practise spellings and here are some sentences you can try writing…

Val ran out to the town.

Vick fed our baby cow with some hay.

Here is a short story you could read together. You could draw a picture for each sentence if you like!

Beth had a seed.

She put it into the soil.

One day she saw a shoot.

Remember to keep reading your favourite stories together too! There are also lots of Julia Donaldson stories on BBC iPlayer to support this – you could read the stories and then watch the film!

For numeracy, please carry on working through your workbooks at your own pace.

Below is the new Home Learning Grid…

Have a wonderful week Primary 1 and we’ll speak to you soon,

love from Mrs Mackay, Mrs Robinson and Mrs Williams x

Hello P.1 – a message from your teachers

A big hello to all our P.1 children and parents…or should we say teachers! We are thinking about you and hope you are well. We also hope you are managing and enjoying your home learning. Here is a suggested outline of activities you could do each day – remember what works best for you and your family is completely fine with us! Try to space out ‘sitting down tasks’ with more active ‘hands on tasks’ to help with concentration!

Daily Tasks:

Start each day with some exercise – join in with Joe Wicks daily P.E. lesson or try a Cosmic Yoga session.

Choose the order you complete these tasks:

20 minutes of number work using your workbook and oral work based on the content of that day’s page.

Write the date each day.

Read or listen to a story.

20 minutes of sound/word work using the materials in your pack.

Play Sumdog.

Draw and colour a picture of your choice. Write about it.

Phone a family member or a friend to talk and listen (check with an adult first)!

Listen to music and sing along – dance!

Build a lego model.

Handwriting practice using your booklet in the pack.

Do a jigsaw puzzle or make one using your own picture.

Play a phonics/rhyme game online.

Be creative – dress up and invent a story to act out or use your toys.

Play a board game.

Read an information text.

Help with jobs around the house – make your bed and tidy your room.

Look at clocks in your house and tell the time – focus on the hour and half past for now (do more if you can).

Play outside if you can – use your own ‘loose parts’ from materials at home.

Run or walk a few laps of your garden or house !

The above are suggestions for core daily activities.

Check out the learning grid in the P.1 section for other activity ideas. We will post a new grid on Monday – aim to complete 1 or 2 activities from this daily but again, do what you can! There are so many online learning materials available – last week, Mrs Kelly posted a list of websites so have a look there too.

Most of all, keep learning fun and please make time for relaxing family experiences too like watching a film together, sharing family stories and looking at photos!

Sending you all our very best wishes,

The P.1 Team

Monday 23rd March 2020

Good morning everyone! We hope you are all safe and well.

Here are some ideas for you home learning this week:

– our sounds for this week are oi and oy and our new tricky words are were and there

– you can practise reading and writing these sounds (you could use the spelling word list in your pack if you are stuck for words to read/write!)

– you could practise writing the following sentences (and even draw a picture if you feel like it!)

Kim put the seed in the soil.

Kay hid the new toy in the box.

For numeracy, please continue working through the workbooks in your pack at your own pace.

The weather has been so lovely over the weekend, why don’t you look for signs of Spring in your garden or street? Remember to have fun with your families and read plenty of stories together!

Speak to you soon Primary 1,
