Scottish Cross Country Event

At the very end of the Easter holidays, three of our Pupils:  Finlay and Liam from P6 and Robyn from P7 took part in the Scottish Country event in Kirkcaldy representing the school as a result of how well they performed in the Edinburgh events, earlier in the term.

All 3 pupils competed well, in a highly competitive field and we are extremely proud of their efforts.

Senior Pupils run their socks off in cross country finals!

19 senior pupils from P6 & 7 represented our school very well this morning at Calvary Park playing fields.

In tricky weather conditions and with boggy ground underfoot, the boys and girls did very well to navigate their way around the 1.7km course.

We are very proud of all the children who behaved well, ran with pride and completed the course. Several of the children made the top 50 in the respective races which was a great achievement.

Thank you also to the mums and dads who braved the elements to cheer the children on and help us walk to and from the venue, your support is much appreciated.

P7 Boys storm to victory in cross country

On the 14th March, Bailey, Jack, Michal, Conor and Joe went to a cross country event at Inverleith park to compete for the P7 boys race.

‘In our race there were over 250 pupils competing to win the prestigious City of Edinburgh Council cross-country shield.

With skill and stamina we were victorious and snatched home the spectaular shield. When we found out that we had won the shield we felt ecstatic and everyone was so proud of us and so were we!’

St Johns Morning Running ( Tues/Thurs)

Pupils in primary 5, 6 and 7 are invited to start the day ( Tuesday and Thursday) with a walk / run challenge around the Figgate pond. We have a rewards system in place: 10 visits ( Bronze), 20 visits ( Silver) and 30 or more ( Gold). Pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for signing in and keeping track of each time they visit the park.

The register can be found just outside the gym hall.

Younger pupils are also welcome to attend but must have an adult/parent coming along to watch or run alongside! Please note that Mrs McIntyre (PE specialist) will always be in the park to supervise all the runners from 8.20 to 8.45. We look forward to welcoming new walkers/ runners to join our dedicated, enthusiastic and determined group.
