We Speak for the Trees! P2 learning, w/b 8th November 2021

Another busy week in primary two! We were very sad to say goodbye to Mrs Mackay as she leaves to work from home until her maternity leave and I’m sure you’ll join us in wishing her all the best. P2a had a great first day with Miss Jones today and are excited to learn with her again next week.

Our focus this week was on the environment, and we discussed COP26, why leaders were meeting, and why it is important to look after our planet. We read The Lorax and wrote about why it is important to look after trees, as well as discussing other ways we can help look after the environment. We had lots of good ideas about how we can use less electricity and less paper. The children have also been junk modelling during their free play time to help us reuse things that would otherwise be thrown away, and help us to use less paper in school. If you have any clean plastic or carboard that you think would be of use for this feel free to send it in – P2 love to be creative with their crafting!

We also learned about remembrance day on Thursday and painted poppies for a remembrance display.

In PE on Fridays we have been learning about attacking and defending as part of our work on team sports.

Our focus blends for this week and next week are ‘sc, sk, st, sw, sp and tw’. Some words you could practice include: scoop, mask, swimming, stay, spin and twist.

In maths we have been practicing our 2, 3 and 5 times tables and have started looking at counting in 4s.
