This week P.1 have been busy rehearsing for the Nativity play but have managed to find time for learning in literacy and numeracy.
P.1 have been learning the sounds of ‘l’, ‘h’ and ‘sh’. They have been using the sounds to make ccvc words such as ‘shop’, ‘shed’, ‘shut’. And cvc words such as ‘leg’, ‘lip’, ‘ham’, ‘hop’. They have also been practising the tricky or red words ‘I’, ‘the’, to, put. They have been learning to write all the new sounds and have been practising writing some of the tricky words too!
In Numeracy P.1 have been working on adding 2 numbers together within 10. They have been revising number formation on whiteboards and have been making different amounts in different ways with a variety of concrete materials
P.1 enjoyed their Christmas Lunch in the dinner hall this week. They had turkey with all the trimmings along with ice cream and a choice of cake. They sang and danced along to the Christmas music playing. Also P.1 have been creating Christmas windows. They have made snowflakes, Santa stuck in the Chimney, stars and a snowflake tree. Check them out as you walk past!
