Dear Parents/Carers and ‘Confirmandi’ (the children enrolled for confirmation),
We have been looking at ways of developing our Confirmation programme to ensure it ‘hits the spot’ for both the children, and for their parents too, and are delighted to be able offer an evening workshop entitled
Navigating Social Media and Screens in a Christian Family
It will be led by Fr Shaiju who has great expertise and experience in this area, having gained a doctorate in the area of social media and young people, and offered several previous such workshops in schools. (He is also offering similar evenings with the confirmation candidates and their parents in the other three parishes in our local ‘Cluster’).
Fr Shaiju writes: ‘In today’s world of digital screens and artificial intelligence, this session provides a welcoming space to reflect on how technology and AI shape our lives—and how families can use these tools in positive, balanced, and meaningful ways. Together, parents and children will explore practical strategies for healthy online habits, thoughtful decision-making, and fostering open, constructive conversations at home.’
Date: Monday, 16 March 2026 Time: 6.30–8.00 pm Venue: St John’s Parish Hall
As this is a central part of our confirmation programme, we hope – and expect – the presence and participation of all the children and as many parents as possible.
With warm wishes and prayers,
Fr Jock Arlene Lauder Bernadette Campbell
