P6 learning

Primary 6 have been learning about Saint Valentine this week. The children researched the life of Valentine of Terni and made PowerPoints to present.

We also enjoyed experimenting blending colours using watercolour paint and chalk and exploring ways to use masking tape to block the paint from our artwork.

P6 made some beautiful valentines cards!

Architect STEM Challenge

This week we reached the final stage of our architect STEM challenge which involved planning, designing and building our own paper cities. These photos are now in our learning jotters and most cities will have headed home but we will share photos here for you to enjoy. We were very proud of our finished cities!

Portobello Area Strings Concert 3.12.24

The annual Christmas strings concert took place last night in Portobello HS, for many this marks the start of the Christmas festivities. Mr and Mrs Horvath and Mr Stewart led the concert which included violinists and cellists from Towerbank, Parsons Green, Duddingston, Royal High and St John’s Primary schools.

A variety of pieces were played last night, from Jingle bells to Home Alone aswell as a performance from Portonova, Portobello High Schools folk band. Mrs Kelly had the honour of closing the concert with words of thanks to the instructors, pupils and parents.

A huge well done to all the children from St John’s who have worked so hard to prepare for last night’s concert and all those who have supported them.
