They can make and write cvc and cvcv words with ‘a-e’ and ‘i-e’ at home for revision. Your child can also choose a word and make up a simple sentence to say and then write.
In numeracy the children have continued counting and saying what number comes before, after and between. They have been ordering numbers to 20 forwards and backwards and writing in any missing numbers. Saying what is 1 more and 1 less, 2 more and 2 less. They have been learning about money and recognising coins to £2. They can practise ordering coins from the least amount to largest amount at home.
P.1 enjoyed having visitors this week as part of the People Who Help Us topic. Michael the lollipop man from Duddingston Road spoke to the children about his job and how he helps people to cross the road safely. The children asked lots of questions and some were delighted to try on the lollipop man’s coat and hold up the lollipop stick. P.1 also had a visit from Norman, the Community Fire Officer. He spoke to the children about how the fire brigade helps people and some of the children tried on the fire retardant jacket and helmet. They were all happy to receive a reflector keyring.
