P.1 Learning

This week in literacy P.1 have been revising the sounds of ‘ou’ and ‘oy’. At home they can practise writing the sounds with pencils and felt pens. At home the children can use their sounds to make words and write them too. They can practise writing simple sentences with some of their words.  P.1 also practised reading all the tricky words. They used the magnetic boards to make words with the digraphs of ‘ou’, and ‘oy’.  They wrote words and a dictation sentence in their jotters. At home they can practise reading and writing tricky words and using them in a sentence.

In numeracy the children copied and counted rhythmic clapping patterns. They were looking at different addition number stories within 10. This week the focus was on the number stories for 7. They had to find all the different ways to add to 7 using 2 numbers. They worked on this in their addition workbook and did an addition group game.  At home they can practice writing addition sums for 1-7.

In RE P.1 were doing their ‘God’s Loving Plan’ focus. They were learning ‘God made Me’ and that their name was chosen by their family and is special to them. They wrote their name and decorated around it to show how special it is.
