P3A Sacrament of Reconciliation

This morning pupils from P3A celebrated their First Reconciliation at St John’s RC church. The children were beautifully dressed, very well prepared by Miss Coleman and a credit to themselves, their families and our school community.

Fr Jim and Fr Jock had never met a class quite so happy to be making the sacrament in all their years and both priests congratulated Miss Coleman on the way the children took part throughout the service and knew the prayers.

Our thanks go to Arlene and the entire parish team who helped make the morning so special for the children, to Fr Jock and Fr Jim for their patience and kindness, to Miss Coleman for preparing the children in school, to all the families who spent time consolidating the work done in class and to the children themselves for being so amazing!

We would also like to thank all the children in P3A who made the journey with our candidates today, you supported your friends very well!

We look forward to welcoming our children and families to a Reconciliation service in church in P4 as part of the Communion preparations.

P3A Sacrament of Reconciliation

Dear Parent/Carer,

Your child in P3A will be attending St John’s RC Church this morning to make their First Reconciliation and will be accompanied by two staff members.

Please use the link below to access a live stream which will allow you to participate in the service.

The Parish team would also like to inform you that they are planning to invite families to a Reconciliation Service early next academic year as part of the First Communion preparations.

Sacramental Celebrations begin

Last night 6 senior pupils from primary 7 made their Sacrament of Confirmation in St John’s Church. The ceremony was streamed live to allow as many people as possible to participate. Due to Covid restrictions only a small number of family were able to attend in person.

The children were a credit to their families and the school, the ceremony was prayerful and uplifting and thanks go to the whole Parish Sacramental team for all their hard work ensuring last night was a success. The remaining celebrations of Confirmation will take place tonight and on Thursday of this week.

Reconciliation will be celebrated over the next two Friday mornings during school time with those P3 pupils making the sacrament travelling to Church. Children will be accompanied by their class teachers.

For Primary 4 there will be four celebrations of First Holy Communion taking place each Saturday until the end of term.

Staff will take turns to represent the school over the 9 Sacramental celebrations and our thanks go to Arelene, Bronagh, Margaret, the entire Sacramental team and of course our parish priest Fr Jock for all their hard work and efforts.

St John’s Parish Children’s Stations of the Cross

Fr Jock writes:

‘This Friday at 9.30am we will be livestreaming Children’s Stations of the Cross from St John’s.

Sadly, the church will not be open for a congregation but below is the link for anyone who’d like to watch/participate.

Many thanks to all the children who have agreed to read, and to the co-ordinating team.

Please do join us – it’s a heart-warming experience to hear the Way of the Cross through the voices of the little ones Jesus loved so much….’
