P2 have been busy since their return after the October break. After finishing our Africa topic, we decided as a class to spend some time learning about our body and our senses. In maths, we have started a new topic, and we will be learning about measurement for the next few weeks.
Here are some of the things we have done since half-term!
Sensory Walk in Figgate Park
We went on a lovely Autumn walk to Figgate park where we used some of the senses we are learning about for our body topic. We used our ears to listen to ducks quacking, touch to feel the grooves of fallen autumn leaved, our sight to spot animals such as swans and water pigeons, and our smell to sniff different herbs in the herb garden. The kids really enjoyed smelling the lavender and mint!

Maths – Length
In maths, we learned some more about measurement. We learned why it is important to be able to measure things, and then we learned how we could use classroom items to measure the length of our desks! These items included cubes, scissors, pens, pencils, and glue sticks!

The Body – Eye line drawing
As part of our body and senses topic, we learned about our eyes! We discussed that our eyes are very important, as they keep us safe when crossing the road and looking for danger. We learned that different animals see in different colours, and that our eyes have a pupil, lens, iris, and eyelashes!
We used mirrors and partners to draw our own eye, colouring the iris the same colour as our own eyes.
