As part of our Science Forces topic we have been exploring air resistance. Today we enjoyed fine tuning the parachutes we designed and built in groups. We then took them to the top of the library stairs to test how well they travelled (and landed). Many of us were proud of our designs and pleasantly surprised with how well they worked!

We also are becoming more skilled at creating quiet in our classroom by taking some time every day for silent reading. As much as we love chatting to our pals, we all love a great book!
Our Accelerated Reading scheme offers quizzes children can do when they complete a book. Parents and caters, please remind your child to do their quiz at school if they read a book at home. Every quiz points helps their points total and increases their ‘words read’ grand total.
This week Primary 6 has been very busy working on producing excellent pieces of work to share with our families in our Snapshot Journals.

We had a learning conversation at the end of the week and here are some of the things that we said:
“This week we worked on our maths problem solving skills for our Snapshot Journals. I found it pretty easy because I’m good at solving problems.” – Murren
“We are learning Italian and French. Our new Italian teacher is Maestra Cinzia and she comes from Italy. We can all now count to 10 in Italian and use some greetings.” -Evan
“ We have been learning about COP26 and what we need to do to help solve climate change. We wrote a persuasive letter to our First Minister to ask for her help.” -Charlie
“On Friday I worked on my sewing skills and I repaired our class Hugger toy.” -Gabriel
“I took out a Ruby Redford book from the library and I am really enjoying reading it!” -Ava
“In maths we have been learning how to multiply 2 digits by 1 digit numbers.” -Marwa
“We have been learning about Ancient Greece. On Friday we read the legend of Hercules. Last week we learned about Perseus.” -Joseph and John
“We have been multiplying really big numbers. Miss Bourke says that we’re now Masters of Maths!” -Hollie and Evie
This Tuesday morning P5B and P6A were lucky enough to watch a live screening of The Lorax from The Old Vic in London.
Linked to COP26, the play explored environmental themes and reminded us all to show that we care about our planet by caring for it.
Here are a few photos of P6A enjoying the show.
