St John’s Prayer Space

For the past two weeks, parent volunteers have supported small groups of children to visit a specially created prayer space in our school. The space was open to children of all faiths and none.

Over the two weeks, 170 children visited the space and were supported to take part in a range of fun and thoughtful activities. The feedback from children has been vey positive with the words ‘fun’, ‘chilled’ and ‘relaxed’ used to describe the pupil experiences.

Thank you to the entire team who spent time creating this space in the school and supporting the children, we would love to do this again next session.

New Beginnings Mass 15th September

This morning Primary 3-7 attended St John’s church to celebrate the New Beginnings Mass. P7 led the Mass beautifully, readers were excellent and Mette served on the altar.

The message of the Mass reinforced by Fr Jock was Kindness, in the playground, in our classes, in our thoughts, words and actions.

Thank you to Frances for the music and the parish team for setting up for Mass. We also wish Fr Jock a restful and enjoyable holiday for the next few weeks.

St John the Evangelist feast Day Mass

Thank you to P3 for leading the school so beautifully in the Mass to celebrate our Patron Saint. They did exceptionally well with the readings, especially with having such limited practise time. Fr Jock was impressed of the knowledge of the children during his homily!

P6 also took part in the initiation ceremony for the Pope Francis Faith Award – this is offered to pupils in P6&7. Throughout the two year award, pupils learn about the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit and how they can use these gifts in daily life. The award aims to connect all aspects of our parish community: school, parish and home. We wish P6 every success in their Pope Francis Faith Award work.
