P3B designed Internet Safety posters to mark Safer Internet Day in February. Well done to all the children for their fantastic entries! The top 5 entries are on display below, well done to Sean, Liam, Milosz, Courtney and Taylor.

P3a went to visit the Bread Share Bakery at the top of Seafield Road for part of our work on Scottish Food which was our focus for our Scottish Fortnight.

We learned how flour is made by grinding wheat kernels and watched some kernels being ground into flour.

We learned that you only needs a few ingredients to make bread. These are flour, water, yeast and a little salt.

We looked at yeast and found out that it is a fungus and it helps the bread to rise. It smelled very vinegary.

We kneaded some dough and made bread rolls of our own. We could sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top to decorate. The rolls were put in the oven and we got to eat them back at school. Delicious!

At the end of our visit we were all given a bread pack so we could make our own bread at home.

 

           

P3B enjoyed a great morning at Pizza Express. We learned all about different ingredients, had a chance to taste mushrooms, anchovies, olives, tomatoes, onion and capers. Some of us liked them, others not so much!

We also made our very own pizzas, we had a great time kneading the dough, spreading the sauce, adding cheese and herbs and then receiving our freshly cooked pizza!

When we got back to school we dried off, had a well earned break and then wrote about our visit. Thanks Pizza Express, we had great fun!

P3 enjoyed a wet and windswept trip to the library on Tuesday afternoon. Lots of pupils remembered their cards and were able to borrow books to read at home. We asked lots of interesting questions and had time to look around the library. Any borrowed books are due back on the 16th February during the week holiday and we hope to visit once a month to choose new books between now and summer.
