Assembly celebrates success

This morning in assembly we celebrated the achievements of our ‘Winter Window’ entries with a certificate, colouring pencils and sketch book for the worthy class winners. Well done to Matthew P7, Paulina P6, Elise P5, Sam and Kelsey P5 and IonaP3. Great job folks! Paulina was delighted to be told this morning that her design was chosen as the winning citywide. Paulina will be invited to the launch event where she will see her design made into a lightbox for display in West Parliament Square outside St Giles and also in Leith, Gorgie, Kirkliston and Gilmerton. Thousands of visitors to Edinburgh’s Christmas and the City will see and enjoy the work over the festive period. Congratulations Paulina!

This morning we also celebrated the success of the PEPAS group who worked with Mrs McIntyre and Active Schools to help St John’s achieve Silver Sportscotland School Sport Award status. The award accredits schools that continually improve physical education and school sport, within and outwith the curriculum and strengthens sporting links between school and the local community. This award recognises our school’s achievement in putting physical education and school sport at the hear of our planning, practice and ethos. Well done PEPAS group, now let’s go for Gold!

We were delighted to receive a certificate of appreciation from the Edinburgh Food Project today after the St John’s school community contributed 57.20kg of food for the Harvest Festival collection. We have another box of foods awaiting collection, thanks to everyone who donated items to this worthy cause.
