Primary 2 Learning 7th-11th March 2022

This week in p2 we have been continuing our work on soft c words , focussing on words with ‘ice’ and ‘nce’ at the end – next week we will continue to look at these sounds, as well as revising ‘ace’ and sorting words that have a hard c or a soft c.

In numeracy we have continued our work on subtraction. The children loved getting outside to draw giant number lines they could walk or jump through to help them subtract! We are still looking at subtraction under 20, and practising different strategies such as drawing pictures to help use, using blocks or counters, using a number line and using fingers to help count back.

In maths we have been learning about the months of the year, thinking about what order they come in as well as discussing what happens in each month and lining ourselves up in order of our birthdays!

This week for our castles topic we moved on to thinking about how we might attack a castle – we came up with lots of exciting battle plans including digging tunnels and even using spies or ninjas to get past the castle defences!

We have also started a new music unit – the children had a great time singing and conducting this week and are looking forward to more next week.

In gymnastics we have been learning different types of jump and loved using the equipment to demonstrate these in different contexts.

Have a great weekend, and we will see you all again on Monday!
