This week in literacy P.1 have been revising all the set 1 sounds. They have been using the sounds to make words such as ‘yes’, ‘van’, ‘rip’, ‘sunk’, ‘shop’, chip’. They have also been revising all the set 1 tricky or red words. Please go over the tricky words at home. They can make and write cvc words at home for extra revision.
In numeracy the children have been working with numbers before/after and 1 more/ 1 less. They have been counting out amounts within 20 and they were following the correct number order with dot- to -dots. This is a fun activity to try at home too. In their maths they have been learning to tell o clock times with analogue and digital clocks. At home P.1 can see what numbers they can find when they are out and about and can practise writing them. They can look at different clocks to practise telling the time.
This week in RE P.1 were learning about Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday. They enjoyed creating their own pancake toppings and glued them into their jotter. They also talked about Ash Wednesday and Lent. They had a visit from Father Jock on Ash Wednesday who gave them a blessing.
This week P.1 had a music lesson from Malcolm who is with the Youth Music Initiative and they will have a lesson each week until the end of this term. They enjoyed singing and making up actions for different songs.
