This week in literacy P.1 have started work on set 3 sounds. They have been focusing on ‘ee’and ‘ea’ to make words such as ‘feet’, ‘peel’, ‘sheep’, ‘cheep’, ‘teeth’, ‘beam’, ‘cheap’, ‘fear’,‘leap’, ‘meat’. They have also been revising the tricky words. Please encourage your child to read and write the tricky words at home. They can make and write cvc and cvcc words with ‘ee’and ‘ea’ at home for revision. Your child can also choose a word and make up a simple sentence to say and then write.
In numeracy the children have continued counting and saying what number comes before and after. They have been ordering numbers to 20 forwards and backwards and writing in any missing numbers. They can continue practising adding numbers within 10 and doubles and near doubles sums at home.
This week P.1 started their new topic People Who Help Us. They were thinking about who helps them at school and wrote about their teacher and also how Mr Mackie the janitor helps in the school. They drew some excellent pictures of their teacher and Mr Mackie.
P.1 went to the gym hall for movement to music as part of their P.E. They did excellent dance moves and performed some of these for everyone to copy.
