P.1 settled back into their learning after their two week break. This week in literacy P.1 have been revising the set 2 sounds of ‘ay’, ‘ee’, ‘igh’, ‘ow’, ‘oo’, ‘or’, ‘ou’ and ‘oy’. At home they can practise writing the sounds with pencils and felt pens. At home the children can use their sounds to make words and write them too. They can practise writing simple sentences with some of their words. P.1 also practised reading all the set 1 tricky words and learned new tricky words ‘go’ and ‘be’. They wrote some of the tricky words and a sentence on white boards. They played a blending matching game together in a small group. At home they can practise reading and writing their new tricky words.
In numeracy the children were making doubles with their fingers, and learning their double addition sums from 1-5. They applied their double addition skills to help them add sums in their workbook. They have been learning to identify and order coins and have been using the till and coins in the class Fairtrade shop. At home they can make different amounts up to 10p and beyond.
This week in RE P.1 were learning about Thomas the apostle. They listened to the Bible story of Thomas and how he had doubted in Jesus until he saw him for himself. They drew a picture of Thomas with Jesus and wrote a sentence in their RE jotters.
