This week in literacy P.1 have continued work on set 2 sounds. They have been focusing on ‘ir’, ‘ou’ and ‘oy’ to make words such as ‘fir’, ‘girl’, ‘third’, ‘foul’, ‘loud’, ‘shout’, ‘toy’, ‘boy’,‘joy’, ‘enjoy’. They have also been revising all the set 1 tricky words. Please go over the tricky words at home. They can make and write cvc and cvcc words with ‘ir’, ‘ou’ and ‘oy’ at home for revision. Your child can also choose a word and make up a simple sentence to say and then write.
In numeracy the children have continued counting forward and backward within 20. Thinking about what number comes before and after. Also, what is 1 more and 1 less. They can continue practising adding numbers within 10 and doubles and near doubles sums at home.
This week P.1 were painting sunflowers as part of their Living Things topic. They were planting a sunflower seed and learning about the different parts of the plant and what the parts do.
