P2/1 and P2 Update 21.3.25

Back to the 1980s

We enjoyed learning about the past through our trip back in time to the eighties. The children were fascinated by the changes in technology and how different school was between then and now. One of our P1 learners was able to work out how long ago 1980 was…amazing numeracy work!

Talent Show

Well done to all the children who participated in our class talent show. It was wonderful to watch everyone share their choice of performance from dancing, singing, judo, football skills, acrobatics, boxing, a quiz, drawing, gymnastics and more. Each class provided a supportive and positive audience for their peers. After voting, 2 acts from each class will go forward to our joint P1 and P2 final next Friday during school time.

Outdoor PE

We continue to make use of our brighter days to take PE outdoors to our astro. This week, we had throwing and catching games, target aiming, skipping, football, running and cheerleading.  We do love our active time in the sunshine. 🌞

Maths

P2 have been learning to measure and compare the weight of different objects. This week we introduced the concept of estimating which object was heavier or lighter before weighing to check. Alot of fun was had finding out if we were correct or not!

Writing

Over the last few weeks, P2 have been focusing on imaginative writing using the story ‘How to Catch a Star’ as a stimulus. This is connected to our Space learning. This week, we had to use action words to write about how the boy in the story would travel to catch a star.

We are so proud of all our children and their continuing progress at St John’s.

It has been lovely to meet with parents this week and share children’s successes and next steps.
