Welcome to P1! We have been enjoying getting to know you all!
In P1 we have been learning our new routines and exploring our new spaces.
We are very lucky to have learning journals which we will use as our main way to share information and photos. Please log in as there are additional photos and a video. If you have not been able to log on to learning journals please send an email or contact us at the end of the day and we will be happy to help you.
Here is an overview of our learning for this week;
Literacy –
We are practising writing our names, focusing on using a capital letter at the start of our name and lowercase letters for the rest of our name. We are encouraging the children to use a tripod grip and not to hold the pencil in a fist grip.
Later this week we will introduce the children to the sounds ‘a’ and ‘t’. Please see the attached video for how to say and write the sounds.
Numeracy and Mathematics –
We have been practising counting forwards from 0 – 20. If your child is confident counting forwards from 0 to 20, try asking them to start counting at any number and count on e.g. can you start at 7 and keep counting?
Outdoor Learning –
We have been getting familiar with using our Play in the Pod equipment safely – sharing and working together. There has been some fantastic creating with the loose parts this week – a pancake kitchen, a campfire and a house!
Religious Education –
We have been learning that we are all unique, with our own special name and talents. We have been drawing our faces and trying to remember to add all the details (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, ears and hair).
Gym/PE (Thursdays) –
We have been learning about our space bubbles, making sure that we have enough space around ourselves to move and travel safely in the gym hall and on the astro pitch. We have been playing class games and learning to follow the rules and play fairly.
Have a great week!
The P1 Team
