Nature inspired clay tiles

P5 looked at a very decorative building that is in Cantabria,Spain.

The Spanish artist Gaudi created very decorative tiles to cover the building

The class then choose some natural forms for their own tiles .

They then painted them and glazed them to give them a finished look

Links to P5 First Holy Communion Masses

Due to Covid-19, First Holy Communions were delayed last session. Dates and times have now been agreed for the children in P5 who are making their First Holy Communion.

Restrictions are still place regarding the number of people who can attend Mass however the links below will enable family and friends who cannot be there in person to take part in the Mass online.

We are sure the celebrations will be prayerful, happy and joyful occasions for our First Communicants and we offer our prayers for them on their special day.

P5 Home Learning- Term 1

Good Afternoon,

Please find attached the home learning activities for this term.

At second level, our grid is separated into three areas; literacy, numeracy and outdoor learning/health and wellbeing. The grid covers term one from September to December.

We ask that learners choose 2/3 activities per week from each area to complete and upload a photograph of their work onto  Learning Journals. Teachers will check in with homework fortnightly  on Learning Journals to provide feedback on tasks completed. Please do not send in hard copies of completed work.

At present P5 are completing active spelling tasks  in class therefore there is no requirement to extend this further at home.

We are in the process of rolling out a new reading programme in school (Accelerated Reader). Information on reading homework and how this will be managed in light of current restrictions will follow soon. In the meantime, we encourage lots of personal reading at home whether this is fiction, non-fiction, online articles etc.

Many thanks for your continued support
Mrs Birdsell, Mrs McIntyre  and Miss Redman

Primary 5 Meet the Teacher

Due to Covid restrictions we have produced a Meet the Teacher SWAY for Primary 5. It allows us to share some more information about the school day for our children. We will be able to discuss individual pupils during the Parent Consultation Meetings in October. Please click on the link at the bottom of the post to access the P5 SWAY.

Treemendous times back at school

Art has been different this term as I’ve been so lucky to get a whole class all morning or all afternoon .

We’ve been looking into trees and the symbolism of these fantastic forms in our own lives and in the work of many artists

We were particularly interested in the work of Gustav Klimt.
