Last week with Davie and Diane we focused on cyberbullying. We brought in homework about it. Davie and Diane brought in sheets with a phone on it. We coloured it in and wrote how to stay safe online.

Freya interviewed her dad about bullying for her homework task this week.
“This week with Davie and Diane we were learning about bullying and friendship. They come to us every Tuesday, for the next 6 weeks. Today we had to hand in our homework about friendship and bullying. Some of the homeworks were amazing! After that we watched a video of friendship soup that was very helpful. Then we got a sheet of a pot of soup and we had to fill it up with all different colourful, friendship ingredients. They looked really colourful and beautiful, they looked like very yummy soup.
Finally we went outside and we got called round the bench and Davie talked to us about whats of bullying there is. After that we all sat round a big bubble and they asked us bullying related questions. We got chalk and wrote all the answers to the questions down in the bubble. Finally it was Home time!
The thing I enjoyed the most was probably making my friendship soup!”

P6 are fortunate to be working with Jake Kane Outreach group this term to help improve our understanding of important social issues as they grow and develop. Over 8 sessions the children will explore topics including rights and responsibilities, cyber bullying, internet safety and community.
‘Today in class we learned about children’s rights with Davie and Diane. We learned that children should have rights because we are just as important as adults. We wrote down things that we should do in class during these lessons. These are:
Never be a bully
Always be kind
Be fair
Be positive
Treat others how you would like to be treated
Always share
Be helpful
Always listen
Help the teacher and others
Try your best
Think before you speak
Always have good manners’

A statement from Willie French, Royal High Primary school headteacher and EPSSA President.
“I take this opportunity to thank all member schools who participated in the EPSSA football tournaments this school session; the Inspectors’ Cup, the EPSSA Cup and the School Board Cup.
It is encouraging that so many school compete in these tournaments and a special thank you must be offered to the parents who volunteer to coach and organise the teams.
Our finals night on Wednesday, 15th June 2016, was a great success as always. Despite the wet and quite miserable conditions, a large crowd was in attendance providing enthusiastic support for the finalists.
Congratulations to the following schools:
Inspectors’ Cup
Winners – Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools
Runner Up – Duddingston
EPSSA Cup
Winners – Nether Currie
Runner Up – Roseburn
School Board Cup
Winners – St. John’s
Runner Up – Cramond
The players were thrilled to receive their medals and trophy from Billy King of Heart of Midlothian who spent the second half of last season on loan with Glasgow Rangers. My sincere thanks to Billy for committing his time and for presenting the players and providing an excellent role model.
I must also thank the following people for their help and support without which the tournaments would not be successful:
• Lynne Crawford, Sports Unit who undertakes our admin.
• Beth Walker, PE Specialist and EPSSA Technical Officer.
• Greg Dimeck, Head Teacher Gracemount Primary School who organises the Inspectors’ Cup
• Pam Livingstone, Soccer Sevens for putting teams together to set up the pitches
• Euan Morrice, Scott Livingstone, Danny, Lizzie and others in Pam’s team
A great team effort.”

As part of her homework Elsie in P6 designed and animated the story of Easter. We think it is a wonderful example of Elsie’s creativity. We hope you enjoy it too!
