Beach Scramble/Gorge Walking
Zoe – “I enjoyed sliding down the big rocks as a big group. We all got soaking wet and it was great fun.”
Bonnie – “We went to the beach this morning. I enjoyed in the water and getting very cold and wet.”
Eva – “I enjoyed the beach, especially when we were floating on our backs.”
Lauren – “I loved the Gorge walking because we all got soaking wet and got to jump in lots of pools of water”.
Joe – “I liked doing the rock of Africa because you had to go under a rock wand there was only room for one person and the water was gushing down on my face and head.”
Andreas – “I had a great time Gorge walking and going through the keyhole. You had to put your feet to different places that you couldn’t see and your head goes through a small space and you have to push yourself up using the rocks.”
Charlie -“I enjoyed when we were trying to climb up the rock surface using only a rope to pull yourself up. If you slipped you fell right into a big pool of water.”
Rory – “I enjoyed when we were on the beach looking for mussels and the pearls inside them which came in lots of different sizes. Mhari our instructor found some and showed us them.”

We hope you have enjoyed our Benmore blog and found it interesting. We look forward to telling you all about our adventures when we get home tomorrow! Now it’s Disco time!
This morning we went biking and learnt how to go down steps. We cycled through woods, puddles and lots of mud!
We enjoyed the cycle obstacle course and we got to crawl through a tunnel.
This afternoon we went to the high rope course. We practiced balancing near the ground before we went up high.
We wore safety harnesses and helmets and climbed up ladders and balanced on beams and ropes.
Then we all climbed a tall pole and jumped through the air to a trapeze. It was a bit scary but really good fun!
Group 9 (Enda, Michal, Lewis, Aoife, Sasha, Tianna, Aidan, Grace A and Aleesha)
This afternoon group 8 and Miss Sinclair went to the high ropes course. We were nervous and excited before we went and scared when we saw the height of the course.
Eliza compared the height to a 7.5m diving board! She enjoyed the thrill of going higher and jumping onto the trapeze.
Tommy enjoyed going upside down while hanging down from the high ropes course!
Brandon enjoyed climbing up the totem pole to a wobbly platform with Tommy and jumping towards the trapeze, which Brandon and Tommy caught.
Hannah enjoyed working together to belay for a partner. She supported Emily and made sure she stayed safe. She also enjoyed trying more than one course.
Grace loved the first course because it had cool ropes even though she was scared before she tried it. She liked jumping off with a harness, it felt like she was flying.
Jack felt it was challenging to let go and jump towards the trapeze. He felt great and proud of himself when he successfully caught the flying trapeze.
Oliver felt a little nervous before he got to the ropes course, he wasn’t sure he could it. However he did! He felt proud and amazed that he jumped off the totem pole to the trapeze!
We felt we achieved something special today and we can’t wait to try more activities!

An exciting end to our day by doing a night walk. It was really scary but adventurous. Once we were in the dark for a while, our eyes started to adjust but then a car would come along and we would lose our night vision. Occasionally we got a little stressed when we had to keep up with the group in front. You could hardly see a thing! There were a lot of tree stumps which made it easy to fall over and when you were going down hill you had to cling on to the rope for dear life! We had to ask others in our group to guide the way. It meant there was a lot of teamwork and concentrating going on.
Part of our walk was crawling through dark, slimy tunnels. It was very muddy! Before going in we had a little boost of adrenaline that gave us the courage to do it. By the end we felt relieved and proud of what we had a achieved.
A great night’s sleep was had by all.
In the morning we had chores to remember and our group set up the breakfast tables. Our inspection was stressful as we struggled to find hoovers and brushes in the short time we had.
We are just back from kayaking and it was easier than it looked. We always had to think about the wind, which was really strong today. You couldn’t go too fast and you needed a lot of balance otherwise you would capsize, a few of us did! The water felt like -50 degrees and our legs were so numb. It was hard to swim because the life jacket pulled you up. We all agreed that we would gladly do this again.
It was great to come back to warm lentil soup and comfy slippers.
We have mountain biking this afternoon and cannot wait for our steak pie dinner later.
